What is a pre-registered car???
A pre registered car is a brand new car which is first registered in the suppliers name, this could be a Main Franchise Dealer, Vehicle Finance Company or Vehicle Wholesaler. There is nothing wrong with buying a pre registered car and the potential savings can be very substantial but it's worth mentioning a few points which you need to know. Why are cars pre registered? Cars are pre registered for two main reasons, the first is that if a franchise dealer is a few cars short of their monthly or quarterly target set by the manufacturer they sometimes register cars in the dealerships name to reach the target, which enables them receive bonuses which are paid on all the cars registered in the target period, They then need to sell these cars as quickly as possible so they are normally prepared to sell them at cost price. The second reason cars are pre registered is when a vehicle wholesaler or Finance company has special fleet discount terms with a Manufacturer. To get these discounts they have to have the cars first registered in their name. In both cases you will normally be the first driver of the car but the second registered keeper. You should also normally benefit from the full Manufacturers warranty for the car and any associated breakdown cover or balance of either if the car has been registered in previous months.
